This is a wonderful Idea...one of the whole reasons why I got on this page.
This would be useful for properties like ours (we have 60 rooms) we have many times when we have a construction crew or the local college books multiple rooms and we have to book each room individually. Currently I have 13 rooms all being paid by one person in-house and an additional 2 rooms under another company. This week I would have been able to use this feature several times when booking reservations for in the future.
When we were a Choice Hotels property under both systems they ran, I was able to book up to 9 rooms at a time. The group function is wonderful if you have authorization to use it, however most of the staff does not. Not to mention that it is not always a group that books. Sometimes it is a family or construction crew that books 10 rooms or more under one name and then each will be paying for them when they get here.
Also currently our online processer for online bookings is Synxis through Saber and they allow multi room reservations, this causes problems since roomkey can not process multi room reservations and the GM receives an email (that looks just like every other online booking with the exception of it saying 2, 3, 4, etc rooms instead of 1). This could cause overbookings if she does not catch it, or if she has already left for the day and is not monitoring her email.
The way Choice had it set up was next to how many nights there was a drop down of how many rooms, you then picked a number (default to 1) 1-9 and when you completed the reservation it booked that many rooms. You did not have the ability to choose different room types so all had to be the same so if you needed 1 of those rooms different you either copied the reservation or booked multiple reservations and went in and changed the room type...........Although the option for different room types would be a neat idea. Maybe you could have a drop down 0-9 next to each room type with each room type defaulting to 0 and give us the ability to choose different rates for each room TYPE. Place this drop down where the book box is and then have a master book box located somewhere on that screen.
