Once the front desk agent assigns the room have an email automatically go to the guest alerting them. This ensures there is less confusion between the pre-arrival check-in step and the actual availability of the clean room.

I have to say i don't agree with this idea. During our peak times we room assign all arrivals to make it quicker at check in, we are always changing the room assignments for many reasons. Especially as a guest arrives to check in and his room is not ready, we switch it with a room that is ready but hasn't arrived yet. This would mean a guest getting an email that his room has been assigned and is clean but when they come to check in possibly being told it is not ready.
